LAPAROSCOPY AND THORACOSCOPY IN VETERINARY SURGERY
Your pet's comfort is our top priority when he or she is being cared for by our teams. In the case of surgery, a pain-relieving protocol is prepared on a case-by-case basis. In addition to this approach, we prefer to use "minimally invasive" techniques such as laparoscopy or thoracoscopy whenever possible.
A camera is inserted into the chest (thoracoscopy) or abdomen (laparoscopy) for exploration, sampling or specific treatments. These techniques are less invasive than conventional surgical techniques. They induce less pain and discomfort, and usually enable faster recovery of the animal.
These techniques are commonly used at the AgoraVet veterinary clinic. However, not all surgical treatments can be performed by laparoscopy or thoracoscopy. If your pet requires thoracic or abdominal surgery, ask your veterinarian to determine whether a 'minimally invasive' technique can be applied.
If you have any doubts, don't hesitate to ask our care teams.
