Surgical equipment

Clinique Agoravet's surgical unit comprises 5 rooms dedicated exclusively to surgical procedures. One of these is entirely dedicated to ophthalmology, and will not be detailed here.

Agoravet has :

A room dedicated to soft-tissue surgery: surgery of the heart, lungs, esophagus, abdominal organs, muscles and tendons, soft-tissue surgery of the head, and laparoscopy.

A room dedicated to hard tissue surgery and neurosurgery: orthopedic surgery, maxillofacial surgery, spinal surgery, minimally invasive surgery, arthroscopy

A room dedicated to NAC surgery

Patient preparation equipment:

Specific equipment is dedicated to preparing patients for surgery. This equipment is specially maintained and disinfected to avoid the risk of contamination or complications.

Animals are prepared under tranquilization or anesthesia when their condition so requires. To this end, several gas anesthesia stations are available in the preparation room. These devices ensure quality anesthesia and limit the risks involved.

Equipment sterilization

All surgical equipment undergoes a cleaning and sterilization process equivalent to that used in hospital operating theatres.

The AgoraVet clinic is equipped with several cleaning devices: automatic washer, ultrasonic tanks, soaking tanks, etc.

The equipment is then sterilized in class B autoclaves before being stored in the blocks. These autoclaves are subject to regular checks and maintenance to ensure the expected level of sterilization.

Soft-tissue technical platform

Laparoscopy column: used for minimally invasive surgery of the abdominal cavity, such as sterilization (ovariectomy), gastropexy (to prevent stomach turnovers) and biopsy of digestive organs.
A camera is inserted into the abdomen through a very small opening, enabling all organs to be explored with minimal disturbance to the animal.
X-ray C-arm: this is a medical imaging device that uses X-rays in the same way as an X-ray examination. It can be used to check the placement of implants such as tracheal stents, SUB (subcutaneous ureteral bypass) and other interventional radiology techniques.
Tissue fusion: a device for fusing blood vessels in order to obliterate them. It increases the speed and safety of operations by reducing the risk of bleeding.

Technical platform for hard tissue blocks

Arthroscopy column: like laparoscopy, arthroscopy enables minimally invasive surgery. A very small camera is inserted into a joint, enabling direct examination and certain treatments. Arthroscopy is particularly useful for shoulder, elbow and knee disorders.
Surgical motors: the Agoravet clinic is equipped with surgical motors and specific orthopedic surgical equipment, equivalent to that used in hospitals.
Radioscopy C-arm: enables live observation of the skeleton of animals undergoing surgery, during the insertion of surgical implants. It can be used for minimally invasive orthopedic surgery.
Neurosurgery: specific equipment is available for neurosurgical procedures such as herniated disc surgery.
