AGORAVET OPHTHALMOLOGY TECHNICAL CENTER

The Agoravet veterinary clinic has one of the best technical platforms in France for ophthalmology.

Examinations complement ophthalmology consultations in order to consolidate the clinical diagnosis, whether established by the attending veterinarian or the veterinary specialist. They may be essential to pinpoint the location or severity of a lesion. The resulting treatments may require surgical intervention. The Agoravet clinic has an operating theatre entirely dedicated to this type of surgery.

Eye examination equipment :

ECHOGRAPHY BD

Thanks to a high-frequency probe, it enables precise, high-quality examination of ocular structures, even in the case of opacities. Only a local anaesthetic is required.

ULTRA-BIOMICROSCOPY (UBM)

More precise than traditional ultrasound, it is useful for studying the ciliary cleft (glaucoma) and certain tumors.

ELECTRORETINOGRAPHY (ERG)

It's to the eye what an electrocardiogram is to the heart: it reveals the electrical activity of the retina, even when this is not observable. This test is indispensable before cataract surgery.

CHROMATIC PUPILLOMETRY (PLR)

Evaluates retinal and optic nerve function. It is a functional examination that can complement the ERG in certain cases.

OPTICAL COHERENCE TOMOGRAPHY (OCT)

An indispensable examination in human ophthalmology, it has been available in our ophthalmology unit since 2015, and provides images of near-histological precision of the cornea and retina. In particular, it provides information on the depth and severity of a corneal ulcer, the presence and location of retinal lesions or the impact of glaucoma on the optic disc.
